I am taking an extended holiday to Canada, starting in Toronto and Ottawa, heading west to Calgary, up the Icefields Parkway to Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, before ending on the coast at Vancouver and Haida Gwaii.
The cost of flights and accommodation has proved eye-watering expensive given peak holiday season, the post-pandemic travel boom is stretching capacity even further, jet fuel prices are high, and sterling’s value has fallen sharply against the North American dollars. But it will be my first trip outside the United Kingdom since 2019, before the pandemic, so I am hugely looking forward to it.
Best in Energy will resume on Tuesday September 6.
Very best wishes
John
